La sera del 3 giugno 1989 in piazza Tiananmen a Pechino la polizia iniziò il massacro di 3600 studenti – almeno 10.000 per la croce rossa internazionale- che sarebbe durato l’intera notte del 4. Per il governo solo 213 morti. Fu il primo massacro in diretta, ripreso dalle televisioni di tutto il mondo. I corrispondenti e giornalisti si erano asserragliati in un albergo/grattacielo da cui si poteva vedere la piazza: avevano fiutato odor di polvere e si erano appostati per tempo. Soltanto per questo siamo venuti a conoscenza di questa strage e del giovane “tank man” che si oppose disarmato ai carri armati.
Da Roma, patria del diritto, diciamo due parole per ricordare questi cinesi eroi, che chiedevano a Deng Xiaoping “la quinta modernizzazione” e cioè un po’ di democrazia, ignari essi stessi del poco che domandavano.

Unisciti a noi, non violenti passanti girovaghi, e chiedici i volantini per tramandare a tutti gli altri la memoria del massacro perpetrato- contro studenbti e lavoratori inermi - da un regime sanguinario che si definisce comunista.

Il Tibet, l’ex Turkestan orientale e la Mongolia interna sono in perenne rivolta. Pezzo per pezzo la prigione dei popoli cadrà. Non manca molto tempo.

Tiananmen square, Bejing China,
On the evening of june 3, 1989 in Tiananmen square in bejing, China, the police began a massacre of chinese youth. At least 3,600 students were killed. Red cross international claims there were 10,000 deaths. For the chinese government … only 213. The massacre lasted all night long.
It was the first massacre shown live by television stations all around the world. The tv corrispondents and journalists closed themselves in a hotel in a skyscraper where they could see the square, after they had smelled the odor of gunpowder in the streets. They closed themselves off just in time.
This is the only reason why we were able to know about the mass killings of so many young chinese, and get to know “tank man” who opposed the tanks unarmed.
From Rome, Italy, the home of human rights we just want to say a few words to commemorate these chinese heroes who had been asking deng xiao ping for the “fifth modernization” and a bit of democracy. Not even they knew how little they were asking for!
